Today is day 2 at the Raffles Quay office. I wrote two hot stocks, talked to several traders and an economist and tried to source for company interviews. For the last two days I ended work with a dead brain and a satisfied heart, because I get a kick from going up a steep learning curve again. My learning curve so far is like McDonald's Golden Arches. At a time when other people in my cohort have settled down, I got yanked out of my comfort zone and thrown into another deep sea. I'm not complaining.
I'm getting to know the people in my new office bit by bit, and it's fine because you can never rush such things. I still keep in touch with the Science Parkers on Reuters Messaging, and I'm grateful that I have a group of people that I can count on for advice, for a quick sharing of thoughts, for a reminder that the last three months have not been a dream. I'm just really fond of these people.
Anyway my Science Parker ex-colleague/friend calls me a "young fogey" because I like classical music and Renaissance art, and she's terribly pleased with herself for coming up with such a term, so she's been calling me that ever since. I really can't help but smile.
